Welcome to the Gibraltar Heritage Trust website

Gibraltar’s long history has left it with a rich legacy of both natural and built heritage.

Its small footprint of 3.5km², Gibraltar boasts a comprehensive collection of buildings, fortifications, caves, and monuments dating from prehistory right up to the modern day.

This mix of periods, which include Islamic, Spanish and British, all combine to give Gibraltar its unique flavour and atmosphere. Added to this is the intangible element of our heritage; that of the people themselves and the complex mixture of cultures that have made Gibraltar their home over the centuries and contributed to making Gibraltar what it is today. Such a legacy of assets in this small concentrated area is truly enviable to the rest of the world and it is this complex interdependence between our built and intangible heritage is what the Gibraltar Heritage Trust aims to preserve, record  and enhance.
