Projects & Events
The Trust is
continually involved in a number of projects. As well as the publication of
the annual calendar and Heritage Journal, the Trust
holds a
number of annual events such as a painting competition and annual awards
ceremony.
The Trafalgar Cemetery:
The Gibraltar Heritage Trust is responsible for the upkeep of the
Trafalgar Cemetery and is very grateful to Greenarc who do sterling work
at the cemetery throughout the year keeping the gardens in such good
order.
The Trust, through Trustee Gil Podesta, has recently completed some
essential repair works at the cemetery on the main gates and
preventative repairs to some of the walls in the cemetery.

| Annual Painting Competition |
|
| Just having completed its 20th year, the Trust's annual
painting competition is a popular event in the calendar. The aim of the
competition is to
raise
awareness about our heritage by encouraging participants to take a long
and detailed look at a building/ site through the process of its
reproduction through artistic media. Past themes, all historic
buildings, monuments and sites that have featured in Gibraltar’s
history, include Parson’s Lodge, the Moorish Castle, Trafalgar Cemetery
and the Mount. |

| Annual Heritage Awards |
|
| Every February the Trust invites nominations from the
general public for individuals, groups or buildings which should be
considered for a Heritage Award. The awards are made
to persons, groups, clubs or companies that have made outstanding
contributions to Gibraltar’s heritage (such as by a piece of research,
publication of a book, a work of art, or the design, construction or
restoration of a building), or by having shown exceptional sensitivity
to Gibraltar’s heritage in being instrumental in preserving an important
part of it. Persons under the age of 16 are also eligible to be
nominated for the Junior Award, either as individuals, groups or as
contributors to school projects. |
