Results of 26th Painting Competition

The winners of the Trust's 26th annual painting competition were announced on Tuesday evening at a reception at the Main Guard in John Mackintosh Square. The prizes were presented by the Trust's Patron, HE Sir Dutton, in the presence of Minister Sacramento.

When we encourage participants to paint or sketch a picture of Gibraltar we are asking them to pause, to observe and to appreciate the heritage that surrounds them.

Past themes include Parson’s Lodge, the Moorish Castle, Trafalgar Cemetery and the Mount; all historic buildings, monuments and sites that are important to Gibraltar’s history. This year’s subject, North Front Cemetery and its environs, provides an opportunity to stop and reflect on the beauty of this sacred place of rest. From the monuments and tombstones that tell us so much about our forefathers and the values of our community, to the natural environment and views from within and into the cemetery. It was felt that this location offered many opportunities for an artist to capture. See more images of the competition and the presentation of prizes here. Or watch news report here
